Default WTB: 1971 Corvette Alternator 1100543

Hello I am looking for an ORIGINAL alternator that is correct for a 1971corvette with number 1100543.

I prefer one that is in good working condition and need one date coded correctly for a car with a born date of 7/7/71.

If you have such a part please let me know and give me your pricing.

Thanks!

Are you sure it's not a 1100544 instead?

The 1100544 is for an AC car. Marc's car doesn't have factory AC.

Try calling John Pirkle Restorations. Jr advertises in the NCRS Driveline.
Nice guy and he has a LOT of alternators.

The other source is Ken Bruno. He also advertises in the driveline.

I truly love the hunt for parts

Yes getting this part has been tough. It is bizzare I find a 7041205 carb the first day I look. But cant find this alternator. I had my car looked at for judging potential and the news was very encouraging. I will update in another thread. But in the meantime someone find me this darn part! Haha

Funny I just found that alternator, on a 69 bb car that was being wrecked, and the alternator was in a bucket full of water.. Its been in that bucket of water for many years. Now I have to carefully pull it apart without damaging it, as it is all rusted, but it is the real deal

I will have to check, but it was the alternator that came with the car when car was new, as the car was originally a 390 car with a/c. there was a bucket in the car with misalaneous parts, but had been rained on over the years as the car is a heep of junk, not much left to pick off it. I didnt think much when I saw the alternator, but told the guy I would buy it as i kinda looked like the one I need that is correct for my car. I will check the date again, but I did manage to scrape the date area, and it had that part number you mentioned, 61A dated J8 my 69 corvette has the same alternator, but dated70 or 71 I will post pics later.

RUT ROH!!!!!!

You say on a 390 car. 390 horsepower car right? 1100543 never went in a 390HP car at the factory. They were for 1971 and 1972 cars. Also it would be a 42A alternator. I am a little puzzled. Maybe we are talking about two cars. But the stamp will tell all. The date should be like 1 D 9 configuration. 1971 April 9th for example.

If your is July 8, 1971, my build date is July 7, 1971. That would be one day after build.

Let's check very closely at what you got. Very fascinating no matter what we find. Thanks again for checking in here.

Here you go Mark, see if he'll split up the alternator and starter.
