How about more information? I see you are new to the Forum, but per Forum rules, you must post an asking price for this motor.
You should also post some photos of the motor that you are selling.
How about your location, so members will know if they are close enough to make a deal with you, as I am sure you are not going to ship this complete motor.
Matching numbers of what? Why not post a VIN of the car that this motor came from? Why not post a photo of the front pad as well?
Glws,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Not only am I new to the forum, I am new to selling an engine as well. The Story is that I have a 1986 Monte SS. The motor was in my car that I bought over the summer. I ended up seizing the engine by somehow losing oil. I took it to a shop here in Buffalo, NY and the mechanic advised me that the motor would be worth more to someone restoring a corvette than it would be to me considering that it would cost just as much to rebuild it as buying a different motor. I am waiting for the mechanic to give me some casting numbers. I will be expecting to get this info on Monday

I think your mechanic has given you incorrect information. While you may have a older chevy engine this is not a complete LT-1. The LT-1 is the same block as many other Chevy and nothing overly special.
It is what is inside that matters. If you ran it low on oil any internal parts that may have been from an LT engine are now either destroyed or no longer usable as the block will need to be machined at the least. Also the heads should be 186 as the 492 was an over the counter replacement. The LT-1 distributor would be difficult to make work in your car and not worth the effort so that is probably not there. You would also need the right coil and alternator that are unlikely to have made it to your car and these are the expensive hard to find pieces.
The timing cover is also not from a 70 LT-1 so I am assuming the engine has been redone.
You may have some good used parts but this is not a complete LT-1.

I didn't post a price and asked for offers because I did not know what it would be worth. Considering the Holley Carb 3972121 List 4555 date 054 is selling on ebay for between 500-700 and the 492 heads with angled plugs are selling for about a 1000.00 I am hoping to get at least 2000.00 for the Carb, intake, Heads and Block. I did not post a price to avoid insulting anyone or looking like a idiot. I am being told by some it is an LT1 and by others that it is not. I think its best to wait until I get the casting numbers off of the parts when the mechanic has it out of the car on Monday

What is the shape of the intake?? original not butchered. I would be interested in it.
I am basically looking for heads, 70 valve covers, exhaust manifolds, intake, waterpump
carb all dated before May 17th 1970
However I may beable to use the carb as the body build of the Car is June 6
PM me if you like
Thanks, grant

The forum will permit "OBO" or "serious offers" in a sale thread where a price has been stipulated.
We will not permit threads where no price is stated, and asks for open offers.
If you think its best to wait, please post an ad when you can follow the forum rules. Thanks.
