Default WTB: 1969 Tilt/Tele (Saddle)

Hey guys,

I'm looking really hard for a tilt/tele column for my 1969 coupe. I really want to find an unrestored survivor that's not in miserable shape.

Let me know if I need to scale back and just take what comes, but I have seen exactly what I want in the archives of this forum so I have to believe another one's out there, just waiting to find me.

- original to 1969 Corvette w/Saddle interior
- no missing parts (e.g., horn button should be there)
- does not need to be restored
- does need to be 90% functioning (I can replace a harness or signal cancel cam)
- nice to have: keys and cyl
- nice to have: non-gummy or wooden wheel

Prices I've seen have been from $400-600, without a wheel.

I have the money - the minute I see one that says "buy me" I can pull the trigger. But as you can tell, I know exactly what that is. Now it's just a matter of a match-up.

Thanks!
Chris

I don't know how many Saddle Tilt/Tele's there were to begin with but all I want is one lone survivor. Do y'all got any ideas as to where I should be looking other than this forum and this thread?

I don't mind if it needs a little grease in the bearings or a new cancel cam. Would like to modify as little as possible for the application. But I can be swayed by good pics, good prices and great stories! :-)

bump, if you want a column ready to go out of the box.
offer more cash, accept any color, and paint.
you can have a key cut by the code, no key required.
a nice TT column will run you closer to $900, if you find one.

So you think there's guys out there unwilling to contact me because I said I prefer Saddle and prefer a bolt-in and prefer to stay in line with prices I've already seen them offered for?

For now that's fine but as the thread ages, I hope someone will take a chance to discuss what they have with me. I'm not rigid, but I believe what I'm looking for is out there.

Primarily want a survivor Saddle Tilt-Tele. Price and condition are negotiable. Please think of me if you see or have one!

Thanks,
Chris

Hey cool! Do you know if the 74 will fit a 69? (Not even sure how to find that out.)

Can you shoot a couple pics my way?

Thanks,
Chris

Here's one I pulled a while back.

Needs lower bearing/collar, key does not turn lock.

Tilt and tele function properly, turn signal switch "feels" like it's fine.

$575.00 plus shipping---can add a good steering wheel for another $100.00

Might have the horn button?

Hi George,

Based on the pics and extent of restoration needed (as if I can really determine that from pics!!) I've decided I'll go with pewter-FRC's column. I appreciate you posting.

I'm still looking for a 69 saddle tilt/tele horn button if you have one layin around... :-)

Default Differences

I know this is an old thread, but there are many differences in the different year columns.

You are asking about a 69. There are early 69 tilt-tele columns and late 69 tilt-tele colums.

The 70-71 tilt-tele are pretty much the same with new changes starting in 72.

They will all look pretty much the same, but you seem to be very specific that you want a survivor that is correct for a very reasonable price.

It is true that once in a while a great deal shows up out there. To find that great deal you are looking for on the exact one you want really cuts down your chances of another turning up.

Also, most of the time those great deals that are missed are usually not what they appear to be. Usually something hidden that you cannot see in the ad.

Just thought you might like to know exactly what you were in for.
