F/S: Authentic Stingray Emblems Pair
Emblems are sold and packed for shipping. Thank you for looking.
You will see that the aftermarket parts have indeed figured out that a four pin Stingray Emblem is what C-3 Corvette owners are looking for when they replace their emblems. Reproductions are nice and sell for $45-$49 each.
I have a set of authentic emblems here for your consideration. How was I able to authenticate these as original? Easy. The pins on the originals were applied as a second operation and the dot on the "I" is round and sits above the I as an island, not a small groove. Also, and this is the key, these have the part number molded into the back of the parts and both show "3945361" clearly on the back. I have used my pen to show you the number and the location on the parts.
These were removed from a wrecked 71. These are very nice and I would put them on my show 71 Sparty without reservation.
These don't come around very often and I hate the term rare, but these are not common in this condition.
If there is interest please let me know.
If no interest then I will pack them and put them back on the shelf for another day. Fortunately for me these don't take up much room.
I will probably take these over to eBay as well to widen the net if I get no interest on the Forum.
Thank you for looking and Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi David,
Careful!
The original scripts were held in place with die-cut adhesive.
No speed nuts were used in production.
The scripts with the 4 unthreaded studs are nice; but finding the adhesive can be a problem.
Don't put the nuts on the studs thinking you're doing someone a favor.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan. Makes perfect sense given the smooth edges of these emblem tabs that no nuts have been on them previously. Thanks for this data, very helpful.

TTT and Price Reduction from $250 to $150.
If no one wants them then at least they don't take much space up and I can put them on display with Sparty memorabilia.
I hope someone can use them.
Thanks for looking.

Great pictures Revi, thank you for sharing those. It almost appears to be an adhesive rope was used versus the double backed foam I have seen on the newer emblems. Fascinating. Thanks again.

Hi,
I agree that the black adhesive is both visible, AND, acts a spacer that holds the script off the paint a noticeable amount.
Judges will check this because of it's mention in the TIM&JG.
Regards,
Alan
It appears on the reverse side as a black bead.
It seems quite precisely applied so I'm not sure how it was done originally.
I've often used the description 'die-cut' but this appears to have been put on as a 'bead'.

Did someone out there in Forum Land send me a message about shipping these to Canada? I may have lost the message and would ask that you try again if you wrote to me, be glad to discuss this option.
Thank you and best regards,
David

Melting Slicks
Postman delivered the emblems today, and as you stated, they are truly stunning. Thanks so much for all your help in adding these beauties to my collection.
