Unless you are super super picky…...
I am not the balljoint expert by any means. But, after reading a bunch of info on the balljoint saga, years and years of people trying to get ORIGINAL balljoints and trying to find NOS one's; I learned that NOS are different than originals. The rubber boot on the NOS have a different part number. Otherwise they are very very similar, but I think there were slight variations in boots. Having said that, I will say you really got to have eagle eyes to see the part numbers on the rubber boots. That is crazy but speaking for myself, I do crazy things all the time. Anyways, the reproduction balljoints are real, real nice and you would be hard pressed to get under a car and tell the difference and just might do for you what you are looking for.
The upper ball joints really don't wear that much and if they check out good and the boots are good, you are good to go. I found some very early take offs from a wrecked car and transferred the balljoints to some very nice control arms. Had them riveted on and they look great. Put some NOS bushings in and they were done. The cost was very fair. I liked the outcome and I can read the part numbers on the boots if I get under there with a microscope and look at them.

I considered the reproduction ball joints but they are non-greasable and the casting is clearly different on the originals. The boots on my originals are reusable and that is the plan if I can just find some original lowers in NOS or low mileage take offs as you did.
My uppers are in great shape so I am all set in that regard.
I had a line on a pair of NOS ball joints but I lost his number. I found his number buried in my briefcase tonight and hopefully he still has them. Not cheap but at least made in USA and correct.
I have the correct bushings and being a Texas car the control arms are in excellent shape. Actually spent early years in Washington State.
I have not seen the $1k ball joints but have seen them go for anywhere from $300-$600 a pair. I know of at least one NCRS member who recently paid $500 shipped.
This forum has been a huge help over the years so I hold out hope that someone may be able to help.

Find the part number and google search it….
That part number was used on more than one type car. I would google it and possibly find it some other place. You might also find NOS control arms from passenger cars with the same ball joints. That might be a wrought to take. Make sure your rivet holes are not drilled out larger. Most of the time they are fine. But check. You will find some.
I have not had success transferring the rubber boots. They have a steel band that hold the boot in place. Seems like a tight fit.

I have tried google a number of times.
However, maybe I can find a low mileage full sized car and take them off perhaps.
Thanks,
Bill

Lower Ball Joints
Maybe he got the deal of the year at $500/pair for lowers and that has skewed my expectations price wise.
I recently spoke to one of the guys that has the reproductions made in China. I told him that we would all gladly pay a premium for truly correct greasable ball joints that were indeed 100% correct and tested to meet OEM standards.
Too bad there is no way to restore originals.
