I cannot help you with the lowers, but I just stripped down my 69' chassis and will be selling off the chassis parts. The RH upper A Arm has the original riveted ball joint in it and is as tight as new.

That would be pretty awesome. If they were greased they might be ok.

How many miles on the donor?

Thanks,

Bill

Default Parts

Hi Bill , went out and took some pictures. Car has 63k miles. Now the original owner told me he drove it for about 3 1/2 years and the stopped driving it until I picked it up. I have no way of knowing other then not knowing wht he would lie. Sure looks like it sat for a long time. The problem is you need the parts now and that job on that rust bucket will be awhile. So let me know!

Hi,
That fastener for the ball joint makes me think….replacement.
I'll bet there's a nut on the underside of the a-arm.
Hope I'm wrong!
Regards,
Alan

Note rivet dome.

You may be right Alan.

Big question is are they GM ball joints? If so they may have even fewer miles on them.

Hi Roger,

I am really interested. I agree that they look like they were replaced. That could be a good thing if the replacements are GM ball joints.

See attached pic to compare.

Thanks, Bill

Note the small nubs on the ears. The dust boot on yours do look correct.

I will check them out in the morning and take a picture . I guess you to do something different with steel rivets, they are harder then the alum. ones?

Well Bill Alan was correct, there are bolts on the lower ball joint and I do not see any small nubs.
Sorry I could not help you.
