Wanted 1978 Radio & power antenna
Hi,
I am looking for an original radio with 8-track or cassette player.
Not a C/B for our '78 Pace Car.
Also need a power antenna and a quartz clock.
Thanks for your help.
Dave

I have two of these(this is an old photo I had, I'll get you an actual photo if interested). Correct style for 78s. Both NOS. Both have been checked over and a new nylon cable installed in place of the 30+ year old original.
Both have my fabricated upper bracket as shown on the CB antenna on the right. Usually a NOS antenna comes without that bracket.
$250 each.
I assume your original harnesses are in place
But seeing as you have a low mile original Pace Car, why not repair your existing antenna(if still in place). Usually just the nylon cord that pushes it up and down. PM me for info.

Hello,
You're right about replacing the nylon cable but I have not
seen a source for 1978 antennas.
I have seen replacements for 79 - 82.
Would this work?
Is the '78 a one year wonder?
Thanks,
Dave

The 79-82 nylon cables will work.
Remove the hook and toss the seals. For best results I like to straighten the hook, cut off the steep bend, and pull the nylon cable out. Gives a little extra length.
Remove the piece shown in the pic.
I've found lately(quality control?)the crimp between the nylon cable and the mast section needs a little fine tuning with a small hammer if it binds when inserted into the other mast section.
