Motor trade?

Motor trade?
2 years ago bought a 71 454 Corvette which has turned out to be some what of a rescue/rebuild. Turns out the original motor has long since gone and it has a 396 (1969) instead of the original 454 under the hood. To keep it original I would like to have a correct engine code 454 installed. Do you think any out there would want to trade motors? I'm guessing no but thought I would ask anyway.

how about keeping your engine and turning it into a 427 or 454?

Hi U,
If you're really thinking about "original" and the "correct code 454 engine" for your 71 you might want to remember that you wouldn't be looking for just ANY 454, but rather for an engine block with a casting number and date code that will be appropriate for your cars build date.
You might also then be concerned with the engine's assembly date and suffix code too.
You'd likely want to have the heads with the proper part numbers and dates too.
It could be that you're just really interest in having a 454 motor for your car and then these things wouldn't matter but I thought I'd at least mention it to you.
So you might want to consider just what you're actually looking for.
Regards,
Alan

The 454's are out there but not certain about the swap, but things like that do happen from time to time.
I wish him the best of success, sounds like a neat swap.
