Default WTB: 68-72 LT-1/BB Hood - Decent Condition/Reasonable Price

Hi,

Looking for 68-72 LT-1/BB hood in decent condition at a reasonable price. Doing a budget restoration on a 69 so would prefer aftermarket or fair price original parts (no NOS or super-expensive originals please).

Hand laid is fine (even preferred if it saves $ over press molded).

With or without chrome inserts is fine.

Can transfer my own latches over if necessary.

Shipping would be to Chicago (zip 60645) or I can drive 2-3 hours away from Chicago.

I know it's a pretty specific list of demands. Hoping someone can help. Thanks a lot!

What's your definition of reasonably priced? That may help people help you.

I was thinking something in the 300 to $500 range. That's what I see the stock hoods going for on Craigslist all day, but the BB hoods are less common. I saw a couple in that range but by the time I contacted or was able to go there, they were already gone. Some people think they've got gold, asking 2 or 3 thousand.

It's a budget restoration that didn't even have money for a new hood set aside. It has a beautiful factory hood but a stupid previous owner put a taller intake in and the hood doesn't close all the way now. I just need a pinch of extra space that the BB hood would provide. And yes, I already tried a shorty air cleaner.

Thank you.

I have an original L88 hood, professionally restored (minus air box kneeing repair)and ready to be painted. Your offer is way too low though as it has more than that in to it on the restoration and priming of the hood.

I'd be looking at 2k + shipping open to reasonable offers.

I'd think you would be money ahead if you just swapped out the intake. Probably a lot less hassle also. That'd get your hood closed for now and there'd be no painting involved. Just my 2c.
