Never heard that. If true then when you change cams do you have to get new lifters?

With solid lifters you can reuse them but not hydraulics. I don't reuse solids unless they are in perfect condition but they can be taken apart and cleaned very easily. Only 3 pieces.
The hydraulic has constant pressure on the cam. It will form a groove in it and can wipe the cam lobe out. Do a google search or check the tech forum. Look for pics of the bottom of some lifters that have done this. They have a cupped look to them.
I never reuse hydraulic lifters. They are cheap enough to just replace them while building the engine.
That is also why you see them sold as new sets along with a new cam.

Yes the cupping would be wear. I will check them. PO may have resurfaced them. Bought them alond with other things from a lady who lost her husband five years prior. He was restoring a vette but never finished. Talked with a tech and he said there should be no problem using them again. Another said just run them through the break in again
Thanks again

As far as I can see no cupping. The rockers were $237.00 was just giving the push rods and lifters with them. It is a shame to just pitch the rockers if some would use them.

Happens all the time. Same goes for old cams.
The amount of work and money for gaskets, etc it is so much better to just replace old worn parts with new some parts once the engine is torn down.
My favorite saying is "do it right the first time".
