These will need recovering, been in my shed for 8 years, not cleaned. FOAM, AND FRAMES ARE GOOD. Front pad under lower thigh adjusts up and down. Everything is there, all adjustments work. They were bolted in a 78 with the tracks on them. If you can't pick them up your paying shipping and packaging. They sit incredibly comfortable and fit well. Sit low for tall drivers. They will work and look phenomenal recovered.

Original worn out cloth. Not sure on shipping. Likely $75 or so. The pictures look like the frame is crooked on the right seat. It isn't. Frames, padding, hardware, sliders are all good. Speakers in headrest worked fine when I got them. Was told they were Bose speakers and original to seats. I helped take these out of my buddies 78.

If you can give me the weight and dimensions of the seats and your zip code I can check what shipping will cost.
Thank you,
Rob

One seat will fit in a 22 x 24 x 32 box. Weight about #30 each. If I put them in 1 box a 22 x 24 x 40 will work @ #60. I know they are a little lighter than that. Zip code is 61350

So this may be a record for the longest time for a CF transaction, but last Wednesday 11/21, after 2 yrs., I finally purchased these seats from 63 Mako (Kevin)!
Thanks to his kind nature he was willing to move them physically as part of his overall move to TX a while back and then held them until we could meet up on one of his times passing through the D/FW area to visit family just west of Fort Worth.
Kevin and I conversed many times and kept our word to each other, his that he would sell them to me and we'd figure out a way to eventually get them to me and mine of course that I made a standing offer to buy them.
Truth be told, neither of us were in a hurry, with me since deciding and having taken my 78 SA to now a body off, frame completely stripped (except the differential and steering box.. still to go) type of rebuild. But when it goes back together, the plan is for these seats to be in my mildly modded car as an ode to my first ever time driving a Corvette, which happened to be a test drive with my Dad back in the early 80's in a 78 SA 4 spd car with Recaro seats that also happened to be on the Used Car lot of a local dealership. This same dealership just so happened to be the place, 31 yrs later where I picked up my own 78 SA 4 spd Vette from the previous owner who worked there back in 2014.
Kevin, it was great to finally meet you and your wife and I hope the rest of your weekend was great.
Thanks again !

Bryan, you got a terrific deal. The headrest speakers alone cost more than you paid for the seats when new. I bought a set of Recaro LS seats in 1980 for a '69 Mustang after Car Craft magazine did an article on them. Cost of the seats (without speakers in the headrests) was well over $1,000 back then. Awesome seat and the most comfortable I had sat in at that time. I removed them when selling the car 15 years later and the owner chose the original seats over the Recaro's.
I still have them, ...waiting for the next project...
Good luck... GUSTO

I realize this is a long shot, but is there any way to get some pics of the seat tracks on those seats? Were they factory 1978 Corvette tracks just bolted to the Recaro seats?
Thanks for the help,
Greg

When I bought my seats, they came with Recaro manual seat tracks, that worked well. You then then had to purchase an adapter that attached to the tracks and adapted to your floors' bolt pattern. In my case the '69 Mustang. They fit extremely well in the Mustang and were very comfortable.
After I removed them from the Mustang when I sold it, I installed them in my '73 Corvette. I should say I tried to install them with the adapters Recaro provided to install in the '73 Corvette. Everything fit, but I could barely sit in the seat because of a lack of headroom and I'm just 6'. The original sliders Recaro provided with the seats added 1" and I needed that just to sit up straight. I noticed that if I removed the slider, and attached the adapter (only about 1/4") directly to the seat, I could fit. I installed them all the way to the rear for max legroom, but could not adjust them for anyone shorter. Since I was the only one driving the car anyway it didn't seem like a problem.
A few years later I did a frame off on the '73 and reinstalled the original seats after restoring them. The Recaro's fit, barely, but the interior of the '73 was just too cramped for them to work as intended.

Gusto,
Thanks - I was really excited (still am !) to get these seats. I feel like we car guys are a unique breed in that we can look at something imperfect and see "how" it's going to look through our mind's eye ultimately with a little effort right?
Since you're a long time owner of these types of seats, I will send you a PM with some questions I do have about them in general.
As far as the deal, I don't know what Kevin paid for them and frankly don't think either he or I cared. Not trying to speak for him, but we had several conversations and I think he just liked that I had a plan for them so once again, like Kanvasman said, proving that there are still good people out there and yes, many of them are here on the Forum.
As far as the seat tracks, I will take some pictures and since both my original 78 seats and these are currently removed, I can lay them side by side and also do some measuring. Based on both Greg and your comments, it may have been a leap of faith on my part in purchasing these things. Kevin did say he thought they originally came out of a Porsche but they were definitely most recently in a 78 Corvette. Could that guy have encountered the same issues you describe? Perhaps, I guess I will find out if the tracks on the seats are already modified, work or something else...
I will let you both know

Sorry it's taken me so long to post these photos. Here's the Recaro seat tracks compared against the OEM Vette Seat tracks
Let me know if you guys want to see something else specifically.
