WTB - 68 - 72 Original LOF Windshields needed for my 2 vettes.
Everyone,
I have posted before looking for LOF windshields and I actually had some leads. The bad was one was too rough to use and the other got broken. So, here I am looking still. I am searching for any 68' to 72' original LOF WS in decent usable condition. I will travel to pick up, so no need to worry about shipping. I have tried all the salvage yards etc that I could find online to no avail. For me even a wrongly dates WS is better than a reproduction.
Any and all assistance is appreciated.

Hi jh,
Remember it's not just the date…. the 'construction' changed during that period too… from Safety Plate to Safety Flo-Lite.
Might that have deeper ramifications than the date?
Regards,
Alan

Alan,
Thanks. Understood. Looking for my 69' and 72' and I understand the differences.
I will worry about all that if I ever get a good lead.

Just a thought......
Mine was replaced by the previous owner due to delamination issues.
The plastic inside the glass got all funky and caused visibility issues for safety inspection. Think of shrink wrap left in a micro wave to long.
It also yellowed. I'm personally glad he changed it.
I saw an unrestored burgundy 68 with the same windshield issues.
The reason they could leave it was it was on the passenger side at the very top.
I would be surprised if any have held up over the years. Even NOS may separate after installation.
There are dated replacements for judging purposes that wont come apart on you.

Marshal,
Thanks also. I am less worried about the 69' as I am about ready to pull the trigger on a repop, as I am doing a frame off on that car. I actually had an original in the basement that had creeping delamination so I cannot use it. The more important one is for my 72' LT1. That car is very original, not restored, except the WS was replaced years ago and I would like an original for it. I also had a line on one close to me, but the person who had it broke it before I could get there to pick it up.

Hi Joe,
Who are you considering buying the reproduction windshield from?
Regards,
Alan
I'm beginning to think along the same lines as Marshal…. an original is likely (?) to have at least some condition issues…. and is seemingly impossible to find.
So are you trading the condition points on an original for the tint band originality points on a reproduction?

Alan,
Totally see both sides of the argument, also understand the reality of finding the WS I am looking for. The car scored over a 97 with a PPG WS and running on Radial T/A's. I have a set of almost new (repop) Goodyear RWL tires for it that I have not installed yet. So, right now the last item is the WS. Do I really need it, no, I could pick up a repop to replace it, but if I do find the needle in the haystack then so much the better.
I had heard good things about Pilkington Classic glass, realizing none of the repops are perfect, but these guys are close (2hrs) from me.
