I have a 76 that some one else put a big block 454 in not sure where the engine came from i got the casting numbers of the back of the block can someone tell from these numbers 3999289 sideways P GM T14 F2873 would like to know where this big block came from

That is a 72-79 block, could be 2 or 4 bolt main.

can you tell what it came out of what the horsepower rating was

If it's there; you'd get more specific feedback if you'd post the information stamped into the pad at the front of the block where the passenger side head meets the block.

F2873 is the casting date is June 28 1973. Post the numbers on the right hand front of the block at the head to see what it was installed in.
