Default Weatherstripping on Door (Pictures wanted)

I'm in the process of replacing my weatherstripping, and am having some trouble with the long piece that goes along the bottom of the door. At the outside top of the door, near where the outside handle is, the piece doesn't seem to fit.

It seems like there is a corner of metal blocking the stripping from sitting correctly. Unfortunately, on both sides, this portion of the old stripping is gone, so I have no reference. Does anyone have a picture of this area with good weatherstripping?

Thanks in Advance,
Dan

Hope this helps.

Default Thank You!

Thanks for the picture, *but* Do you have one of the top of the door where this strip ends near the window?

I'm having trouble getting my piece to negotiate that corner in the upper right of your picture. It seems like I've got a corner of metal sticking up that won't let the very last part sit where it needs to in order to let the last screw hole line up.

I'm thinking I could cut a slit in the stripping & make it fit, but I don't want to do that unless I absolutely have to.

If that isn't clear enough, I'll try to get a picture of my dilemma tonight.

Thank you again!
Dan

Default So here's what I'm up against...

Here's what I'm running into. There's a corner of metal sticking up,
preventing the stripping from coming over to the screw hole that it
needs to. It's the right angle sticking up in the first picture.

the next pictures are various views of the stripping not fitting right.

Any suggestions? The corner exists on the driver's side too, and
appears to be unmolested, so I think it's original. It seems that I could
bend or cut off the piece, or I could probably cut a slit in the stripping
to make it fit.

Whaddya think?

Thanks,
Dan

Is there any chance that the w/s for you ryear Vette is different than earier Vettes ??

Maybe your w/s is incorrect.

I did my 72' two years ago and my door does not have this metal piece on it.

Default Anything's possible..

I got the weatherstrip in the Corvetteworx Group purchase, so I'm hoping that it's right, I'll see if I can find the invoice again.

I suppose there's a very remote possibility that the doors have been replaced, but I doubt it since the paint on the inside of the panels matches other places that didn't get repainted.

Maybe I should call or email the Corvette Rubber Company & see what they say...

I'm hoping somebody with an 80-82 will chime in and say if my stuff matches theirs.

Thanks!

Mine's a 73, but it looks the same. You can see where the weatherstrip goes above a square piece of the door. Maybe you just have to force it in there, it's rubber after all. Joe
