Default Water Pump Rotation Direction

Are water pumps bi-directional? Can they spin in either direction and still cool, or is the impellar designed for a certain rotation. If only one way - which way clockwise (asuming this way) or counterclockwise - I'm using an electric belt drive so I can change polarity of the motor as needed to compensate.

Not bi-directional...Most S/B Chevy pumps run clockwise, looking at them head-on...

yes, clockwise. If you need counterclockwise you can use a C4 Vette pump or if you have more room a serpentine belt F-body or truck pump.
