Default Dragvette Safety Loops & 3 inch Halfshafts

I have a C3 383 stroker 490 Hp/TQ and presently using the stock 2 1/2" halshafts with new U-Joints / no grease zerks which I purchased from ZIP and Van Steels offset trailing arms.

I was going to purchase and install the Dravette Safety loops as a precaution. Do you think it's a good idea to go with the 3 " Halfshafts as well ?

Dragvettes sells a set of 3" Halfshafts with Spicer Ujoints and Flange for $218 which I believe is good price.

Anyone out there using these Dragvette parts - are you please with there parts and service ?

halfshaft loops are the best idea anyone ever had. I hope you will never need them but if you do then you will be happy that you got them. The 3" shafts are not a bad price either. what are you going to be doing with the car? just cruising the blvd or hardcore trans-brake launching at the track?

I don't know if the loops will work with offset arms. You may have to do some fabrication b/c I believe they designed the loops for stock arms which have a flat bump plate and the offsets use a round one.

Sorry to hijack, but anybody have a picture of the safety loops installed? I've heard of them, understand their need, but can't picture it.....

Thanks

You have to mention that you want the loops for offset arms so that he can send you the correct rounded ones.

Here's a reply from DragVette about this issue.... I asked if it would fit my offset trailing arms. He said:

"Jim
Yes they will just specify you have offset trailing arms and we will sent you the appropiate ones. You will have to drill 2 small 5/16 holes in the bumper pad of your trailing arm to attach the safety loop. You will use the safety loop as the pattern it is very simple.
Thanks Steve @ Dragvette.com"

Hope this helps......Jim

here is an up close shot of a loop in action. dragvette is very highly rated and top notch company

if I were you I would get the loops and try it out and see what the car reacts like and if you break a shaft then replace with 3" but more than likely you will bust u-joints long before a shaft goes

Yours looks welded in. I take it the bottom of the loop is removable. That's not for your year C3 is it?

Default I have the VBP dual mount rear spring

with the Van Steel offset trailing arms will the safety loop fit with no mods other than drilling the 2 holes on the round bump pad ?
