Default headlight actuator seals

Is it possible to replace the seals on a 81 with out removing the actuator from the car

I have a 73 and getting them out is no too bad, I don't think I would have been able to replace the seals while the were in, I changed mine about 8 months ago, if you are unscrewing the clevis then you only have a few more bolts to unscrew to get the actuator free. Lots of good info in the archive about taking them out. Good luck.

I rebuilt my actuators a while back and it would have been next to impossible with them in the car. work from the top with the hood open and then close it and finish from the bottom. you have more room with the hood closed.

Yes you can replace the front seal with out removing the actuator. Open the head light. Take off the fiberglass trim ring around the bulbs....work through there. You can then reach just about everything.

I recommend complete removal. You can try with them in and if all else fails then take them out.

just ordered all the parts, I'll try it in the car first, if that fails I'll remove the actuators Thanks for the feed back
