Default Need tire size help!! + movin the rear brake bracket

I have a 69 smallblock with those 8x15 aluminum rims from later c-3 cars. I would like to use them for now to keep the
cost down. My question is what somewhat sticky tires are available currently? I am running 245x60x15s el-crapos and
that seems to be the largest that will fit. I don't think 255s will behind the brake cable. What are my options with and
without moving the brake cable from rear swing arm?

I found only BFG 235x60x15 drag radials available.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS: my new motor will be a 383 with around 420HP and I will need to stick much better but want mainly street driving
tires.
_______

Now I can't even find the BFG 235s!!!

I would like to stick with the 15 " rims. But now I can't even find the BFG 235x60x15s. HELP! What can I use at this
point? Is there any tire
that would at least be fairly decent on the street?

If I were to have the rear brake bracket moved on top of the swing arm do you think 275 x 50 x 15 s would fit with my
stock alum 8 x 15 rims and no rubbin??
_______

Thanx chris L.

Well, I don't know what offset the aluminum rims are, but on my 69 which has the stock 15 x 8 rallye's, I run 255's without any problems.

I beleive all stock rally's were 15x8 with 4" backspacing. Except 1968 which was a 7" rim. Most people run 255/60/15 no problems at all. However this is a passenger rated tire from BFG and most other companies. BFG used to make a R1 tire that was basically a street legal strip and autocross tire. If you want to go bigger in the back I have seen people running 275's no problem. Although that is about as big as you would want to go with stock rims and trailing arms. You dont need to modify the brake bracket or get offset trailing arms unless you are wanting to go with aftermarket rims with a different backspacing, or you are wanting to wider than 8". Hope this helps.

Tell us about your stroker motor when you get a chance. I love to hear how people built these. Just built one myself. Take care.

BFG 295 50 15's and I just ground down the e brake bracket a little. If do this there is a document
somewhere here that shows you haw to move the bracket. Be carefull the bracket can cut down
your tire.

Nice tires motorhead...but the threads seem to stick out a bit out of the fender...don't you get debris on your paint?

I have new paint and it's worth alot more than the tires, there's no more crap getting
thrown up than with the 255's I used to have on there.

I have to edit this --> what I mean is I'd take 'em off if there was a problem.

I think the offset is 4". these are the standard Aluminum rims from the later 70s Vettes. With the 245 x 60 x 15 s I have on now I can't get my pinky between the e brake bracket and the tire. When I let the air down to race they actuallly touch slightly.
