Default Invention to help find compression stroke on #1 cylinder

I was trying to find the compression stroke on #1 cylinder by myself. I couldn't turn the crank and keep my thumb over the spark plug hole at the same time so I made this - it is simply a balloon attached to a threaded tube from the plumbing section at Home Depot. Just screw it in then turn the key a little at a time until the balloon inflates then turn the crank with a wrench to 0 degrees to insert your distributor.

So who can help me with the patent or buy the rights?

It worked great! It blew up about the size of a big grapefruit then I knew the rotor was at #1 cylinder.

BTW, glad to hear your car is running cooler, MsVetteMan.

Cant turn the crank and keep thumb over spark plug hole at the same time. I can, I use my left index finger to put over the plug hole and with the window down I reach inside and turn the key to bump the engine. I have long arms and fingers. I had to do it this way because this past April I burnt up my remote starter. That is a good "invention"

What size is the treaded insert that you purchased from Home Depot? What size is the had that goes in the spark plug hole?

Use a condom instead of a balloon and call it the Safe-T-Stroke Checker...

Use one of my size condoms and you can start it and let it run @ 3,000 RPM for an hour before it pops.....

Do you think there's any chance the balloon can get sucked into the spark plug hole and lost? I like to use the Whistler type of indicator for compression stroke ID.

Nice idea but the old wad of paper in the plug hole popping out on compression has worked for ages

Maybe we could sell a package deal with my locking pliers on the key and 10 feet of string remote starter.

Sorry, but Bozzo the Clown already has a patent on the balloon!

Great idea!

A ty-wrap around the base of the balloon would solve this possible issue.

Great Idea! Sometimes the simple ones are the best.
