78 Rear window SS trim polish or replace?

Tape off the window and paint to protect (tape and painters paper). Then use 0000 steel wool to polish (available at Sears hardware, Home Depot, Lowes). Keep the wool flakes vaccumed off while working. Finish off with a quality metal cleaner/polish on a soft cloth (brasso, etc.). Peel the tape.

I have a 79 and want to do the same thing to mine, but I felt like the rear window trim on mine was aluminum. I don,t know for sure. Is the trim on the 78 Stainless Steel.
