Default 1972 LED brake/directional bulb question

I would like to replace the rear original 1157 incendescent bulbs in my 1972 vet with LED equivalent bulbs. The original turn signal flasher is the two contact Tung-Sol brand. Can anyone tell me if I have to replace the flasher at the same time so i don't lose my turn signals?
Anyone recommend how many LED's to have in each 1157 replacement?

Thanks

That's not the turn signal flasher, it's the emergency flasher. The turn signal flasher is on the passenger side, just under the lower outside corner of the lower dash.

Right...I have the correct one on the right side and it's the two blade Tung-Sol. That's the one I may need to replace...yes?
(BTW, I bought the car new in November, 1971.)

I ran the LED replacement bulbs in my 63 with the stock flasher and it worked fine.

Really....any idea if you have a Tung-Sol 224 flasher?? That would answer
everything!

Also, how many LED's are in/on each bulb...did it make a significant difference in brake light effectiveness?
