Anti-Theft Alarm Wiring ?
I have a 69 w/ the anti theft alarm - I am trying to figure out what wires should go to the switch assembly on the top of the cowl - the one that gets depressed when the hood is closed. I have one white wire hanging from it that extends about 4 inches wiht no clues as to where it should go. The assembly manual shows that there should be 2 wires.
Can someone help by telling me if there should be 2 wires, what color are they, where do they go / or plug into and how are they routed?
Thanks
Jim

The wires are part of the wiring harness. It has 2 connectors that attach to the hood switch. In the AIM it looks like the wires go through a grommet on the firewall near the wiper motor. One wire grounds on the wiper motor bracket. The other wire goes through a grommet below the wiper motor and into the passenger compartment. The wire goes to a wiring harness that connects the door jamb switches for the courtesy lights.
Sorry can't tell you the color of the wires. My wiring diagram is packed away somewhere.
When the switch is open (hood open) the switch completes the path to ground. As long as you have one wire to ground you should be good.

I had a similar problem and learned right here on the forum that there are two wires. On my 72 they go into the wiper cavity and back out through the grommet that the washer hose goes through and into the wiring harness then behind the wiper motor and on the other side the black wire is grounded while the white wire goes through the 4 hole grommet into the interior.
If you only have one wire, you will need to purchase a set of
Door Jamb Courtesy Lamp Switch terminals like the ones from Paragon part# 5417K. Others sell them too. They go into the nylon portion of the switch and are what the switch makes contact with to complete the circuit when the hood is open.
I was lucky enough to find my wires bunched up and wired together near the wiper motor. I ran them through the wiper hose grommet and reconnected them to the switch wires.
You can read what I found out here:

There are some great pictures there posted by Duke94 which were extremely helpful.
Good luck.
