Does Prestone make regular 'Green' Anti-Freeze anymore?
I wanted to switch my Vette to good old Prestone Green Anti-Freeze. I have the whole system drained, flushed, and cleaned. And ready to be filled with the 50/50 mix of distilled water and regular Prestone Green anti-freeze.
But I went to three auto parts stores and non of them have prestone green?!?!
All the Stores have are Prestone Orange (Dex-Cool), Prestone Yellow (is said you can mix this with Orange or Green), and the only Green the stores have are the no-name store brands.
Does prestone not make the green anymore??? Is the Yellow Prestone's replacement? Is the Yellow Ok to use???
Thanks in advance!!!

Ok thanks guys...
I think the consensus is that Prestone does not make 'Green' anymore. And that Yellow is Prestone's new/regular Anti-Freeze, and that it will be fine in my Corvette.
Just wanted to know, because I am following the forum's advise/consensus that the Orange (Dex-Cool) sucks and that I should take it out of my Corvette and go with regular old trusted Prestone.
I put Dex in after haveing cleaned and flushed my system this past fall, and when I questioned it on the forum, many ppl said that I should drain and re-flush the system and go back to the old green... So that's what I'm doing. But I don't want to put the Yellow in to later find out I shouldn't have... That's why I'm asking 'before' I do it this time.
Anyway... Thanks again.

I ran Dex-Cool for years in my 71 and had no problems at all with it. Then switched over to prestone yellow as it was readily available & less $$$. Didn't have any problems with it either. If you have fresh dex-cool in there now I don't see any reason to change it.

I'm sure a lot of GM car owners thought the same thing until they went in for an oil change and to figure out why there was no heat only to learn that the heater core was gone, and that all the freeze plugs needed to be replaced. For most small GM motors, that's an $1800 bill. I won't take chances again, and ever use Dex.

In addition many shops would mix the dex-cool too weak. Works with the green stuff, does not work with Dex-Cool. It needs to be 50-50.

I personally worked on a plethora of Malibus, Cavaliers, and a few other NON-trucks...and they all suffered the same problems. All had a nasty sludge clogging most coolant jackets in the block, and even a few bad radiators.
