Changing motor mounts?
Should I change motor mounts as I'm going to swap motor from a 327 to a 383, with a lot of more torque?
Have stock motor mounts now.

You'll be fine as long as theyr'e not damaged and that stroker isn't putting out ungodly amounts of power. But new poly mounts from Energy Suspension or others (you can get them from Summit, Jeg's,etc) are pretty cheap. Or get some solid mounts if you are making a ton of power. One thing though that most don't know, don't mix differant types of engine and trans mounts, go all rubber, all poly, or all solid. Mixing can cause awkward stresses and breakage.

Avoid using rubber motor mounts. My mild 350 tore 2 up in one year.
I purchased poly form AutoZone...good value, and the have not broke it yet. Solid mounts might be better.

Don't think I will go for solid mounts.
Poly seems better for a street car.
What about heights of poly mounts, are they the same as my stock?
I've heard that they will not have the same height.
Is that really so?

The tranny doesn't flex enough to have a problem breaking the mount. Rubber serves well for the tranny mount. The flexing comes from the engine torquing from left to right which causes the left motor mount to go then the right one.

I did it for two years before I changed my tranny mount to poly. No problems at all. If all you do is street driving I cant believe you would ever have a problem, other then dry rot from age not because you had a poly engine mount and a rubber tranny mount.
