Just the basics..
'68 till '72 have chrome bumpers front and back.
'73 has rubber nose with chrome back bumpers.
'74 has rubber nose with two piece rubber back bumper.
'75 till '77 has rubber front and back bumpers with notch-back rear window.
'75 was last year for the convertible.
'78 till '82 have the long rear window.

'80 - '82 have the built in rear spoiler and lower front air dam.
1982 Collectors Editions have lift open rear windows.
1978 Pace cars, and '78-'79 had the optional add on rear spoiler and add on front air dam.

Welcome to the sharkpond! The car in See3er's sig is a 72. Another cosmetic difference on the early models is the 68s and 69s have 'gills' in the front fenders. The 70-73s have the grid-type insert like See3er's vette. Then, from (I think) 74-82 the vent area is open.

Also, the big block cars (68-74) have a different, slightly higher hood with chrome trim inserts and cubic inch numbers (427 or 454) on each side of the raised portion like the big block vert pictured at the top of this forum. Hope you get one and join the fray! (but you'll have to park the stang outside!)

actually i am planning on getting rid of the stang. my parents want me to get a "beater" for now because i will be buying myself a 03 z06 next year. Since i am getting that they said i should get an older car that i could use for a daily driver. i though i might be able to get a decent running c3 and fix it up as i use it for a daily driver. being in college i dont drive all that much anyways. id really have to start looking now for a c3 that could use a little help but one that actually drives or a cheap one without a motor. id probably but a somewhat mild 350 crate engine in it. know where there is a good place to look for a running c3 project car. The most important part would have to be the frame. i wouldnt want to have a rusted frame.

Don't get a C3 to putt around. It will gobble up your dollars pretty quickly. Look for a GM g-body and play around with a 350.

i dont know why i never was a fan. Until recently when i actually realized i could afford a corvette i never really looked into it. Being 20 years old I always loved the c2s they were my favorite. Then i liked the c4s second. and the c5s were my favorite when they came out. when im older im sure ill own at least one from every generation. then id go to a car show or see a picture of a c3 and some i really liked. some i wasnt crazy about. So i asked this ?? as which is the difference. id have to say. the earlier ones were much nicer to me.

 someone doesn't like a C3 over a C4. Say it isn't so. :D

Anyway, I with other guys, a c3 isn't a daily driver...a z06 is...If you do anything, get a z06 as a daily driver, and a c3 as a cruiser. Believe it or not, a c3 will drain your cash quicker then a z06 will. And if you doubt that, scan the forum, these cars always need work, and once you change something, it becomes a desiese and you start to swap stuff that doesn't need it. a z06 is to "turn key" for me...it doesn't need any work. I like to work on my car.

Maybe I'm just being dumb, but get a honda as a daily driver, you'll probably be happier, unless you need to be the center of attention...then a c3 is the way to go....Everyone knows a c3 will get more looks and more thumbs up then a z06 will....expecally with the kids...just don't expect it to be more reliable then a z06, or get better gas miliage, or ride smoother. you can't get a "beater c3" and expect it to turn over everytime you turn the key...
