Default 1982 Bumper Covers On A 1977 ??

Does anyone know for sure if the front and rear bumper covers from an 1982 corvette will fit a 1977 corvette body??

Some mods may be required for the tail lights, but the rears have been put on earlier vehicles quite often. The 80 - 82 front end is significantly different than the 77 so major mods would be required to use the 82 front bumper cover on a 77.

Someone does offer an 80-82 front bumper cover that will attach to the '75-'79 front end. (possibly Vancor's?) It doesn't look exactly the same or quite as good, but is a close approximation if you don't want to otherwise modify your front end.

As 71rdster mentioned, the rears have been fitted by lots of folks since... well about 1980!

If you want I'll e-mail you a couple of pics with my 80-82 rear cover installed on my '76-I also have a "stingray style" fixed healight front conversion from Vanacor's installed on the front. Send me your e-mail and I'll you some pics.

Below is a before and after shot of the '80 style rear cover on my '75.
As mentioned, mods to the tail light brackets are necessary to mount it correctly because the tail light spacing and depth are different between the years. Mods are also necessary to the aluminum reinforcement for license light clearance. An additional bracket needs to be fabricated from aluminum between the license pocket and the reinforcement. Your '77 tail lights will fit. I prefer ACI for the fiberglass cover, Toledo Pro molds are 1" shorter across the bottom for some reason and require more material to be removed for license light clearance. Very noticable when they are side by side.

My humble opinion - the 80-82 front bumper makes a C3 look like it has a terrible underbite, or Jay Leno's megachin. The rear bumper looks great.
