Bowtie Level 2 200R4 pressure test question.
Hello!
I am in the stages of setting up the trans, have a couple of questions. Id rather gather some info from you guys than call in the pressures to the facility. For those who have the level 2, would you happen to have the pressures recorded for each gear low and high TV? Any help is appreciated!

u really need to call in your readings to BTO for your warranty but heres a couple readings from forum members.
heres 1 members readings
All gears had 78-80psi at idle.
All gears had 76psi with TV cable disconnected.
All gears had 195psi at 1500rpm with TV cable pulled out to limit
The 195 readings were probably +/- 5psi, but all seemed close to 195. BTO were happy with them, so I guess that they're OK (but 195 for reverse looks like it could be a bit low)?
note his readings in 1st and 2nd w/tv connected and disconnected, matter of fact all the way across the board his are the same cept for reverse, very strange.
another members readings compared to mine, his #'s 1st followed by mine
Idle mine Idle mine High Idle mine
Gear TV connected TV disconnected Full TV
Park 80 75 80 70 225 210
Reverse 130 123 85 115 240 270
Neutral 80 75 85 70 220 190
OD 80 75 85 70 220 190
Third 80 75 85 70 220 210
Second 80 140 85 150 220 195
First 80 130 85 140 220 190
The transmission fluid pressure readings should be in the ranges of the following numbers (psi):
Range Minimum Maximum
Park 90-110 190-230
Reverse 95-120 200-300
Neutral 90-110 190-230
Overdrive 90-110 190-230
Drive 90-110 190-230
Second 185-230 185-230
Low 185-230 185-230
for some reason it won't post like i set it up

Thanks for this information, it was very helpful! From what i remember the pressures were close to the ones you posted. Are you running the TV made ez kit as well?

Pressures tested good in relation to your info. thanks again. One issue I am seeing is temperature, i was running near 175 degrees. I have an autometer temp guage in the pan. BTO likes to see temps near 160 or lower if I remember correctly. What temp are you running and is this too high. I had it in overdrive and to my knowledge the converter was locked, i tapped the brakes while accelerating and it jumped up about 200rpms. Any thoughts?
I love the gearing on this trans, how about you?!!

I read that 175 was great and fluid last long time at this temp some say that dont go over 200 but if you change fluid every year or so 200 is ok. Now that it is hot my level 2 is running 200 and I plan to put the cooler I already have in when I take in line filter out. My pressures were different at idle my pressure was 94 and with cable disconnected was 90. But they were happy with them when called in. I like the trans also nothing like doing 90 at 2700 rpm there abouts and my speedo read perfect which I was happy with so there gear calc works good also. Havent been able to see what mpg looks like yet 1st tank almost empty so I will see. Dont think its that great Ive been kinda rev happy with mine and been liking the sound of my new sidepipes and sts mufflers I put in so been racing the car around a bit. Good luck and have fun with new trans.

BTO doesn't like temps over 165, it only took my vette 2 miles to get over 165 so i installed this cooler.

now my temps are usually around 150 and when i'm struck in hot city traffic i'll get to around 180. i also run a flex fan and a electric fan for when things get hot. i run my lines thru the radiator 1st and then to the cooler. some people bypass the radiator and go straight to the cooler but the problem w/that is if u live in colder climate your fluid runs too cold.

Hey Ross, some of those figures look familiar
The fluid temps on mine were climbing way above 165 in every gear except for OD with the converter locked. I fitted an external cooler & plumbed it in so that fluid goes to it & then the stock rad. Temps are now below 165 (& coolant temps now rarely get above the stat rating).
With the converter locked the revs should jump by about 200-300rpm when it's unlocked due to the brakes being pressed.
