Default Dart heads versus World products sportsman

I just bought a pair of the World products sportsman 11 heads, seems like a lot of you guys have had problems with the valve springs breaking. Has anybody used the Dart Iron Eagle heads? I am thinking about sending the World products back. Thanks for the advice!!

I think same company. Troy, MI right? I bought a set of fully assembled Dart Iron Eagle 180cc intake port diameter heads for my SBC from Indy Cylinder Head. Haven't installed yet. Sitting in boxes on lower shelf of my workbench with a set of Fel Pro gaskets. Nearly identical heads (200cc IRon Eagle and Sportsman II's) as far as I've heard. I've read in many places that Dart has manuf'd. the S/R and S/R Torquers so I'd guess same company.

I beleive the owners of each company used to be partners but went their separate ways. They've been separate, competing company's for several years now.

I have the Dart Iron Eagle heads installed on my 1980. I only have about 1000 miles on them so far and I havn't had any problems. The heads work great so far. They are almost the exact specs as the sportsman II's of the same price. Hope that helps.

World Products is a Bill Mitchell company which is, as Monty wrote, a separate company from Dart. When the Sportsman II cylinder heads first came out, they were collaborating which is why many still call them Dart Sportsman II heads.

I'm guessing that this damper issue is a relatively recent QC problem for World Products since I've had my Sportsmans on the 'Vette for about eight years with not a single problem.

I've had my Sportsman II's for about three years with no problems. And they have been completely disassembled for some porting and no defects were noticed.
