Default Who out there has actually swapped an LS1/LS2/LS6 into their C3?

I am starting to plan out an LS swap into my '74 convertible. I would like to find some forum members who have actually made the swap and are willing to share some information.

There are alot of guys on here that have it done, your accessories youll want to go with firebird/camaro ones they fit better then anything else, but for a/c youll have to go with an aftermarket bracket to get the a/c to work up top,it wont fit down low near the frame.Youll find plenty of info here and ls1tech.com too.

Pat - Do the LS motors have the same front bolt and head bolt patterns as one of the TPI or TBI motors? Even if it's close the serpentine stuff from an earlier motor might fit and open up a few more options.

Thanks for chiming in. The guy that is going to do the engine transplant thought that the Camaro/Firebird accessories would work. My LS2 is coming out of a 2007 Trailblazer SS, and its stuff won't fit (easily). I won't have A/C, so I won't have to deal with the aftermarket brackets.

ok one thing is oil pan in the trailblazer might be problem im using the truck pan but had to cut it and shorten it to get ground clearance,so you might look inot a fbody pan. Also the intake it taller so measure to be sure itll fit under your stock hood. But you can swap to a ls2 vette intake too.

You know what we need to make a Ls1/2/3/6/7 sticky at the top so we just keep adding info for others to help out on.

Here is the key to making this swap as easy as possible. Find a complete 2002 LS1 Camaro SS/Z28 or Trans AM donor car. Swap everything over that you need until your done. Sell the rest.

Some great Ls? Installs on the forum. Also lots of help!

I went for the bling but wanted something a little different. My setup is from Street & Performance (www.hotrodlane.cc). They have other conversion goodies also and a dlownloadble catalog. But they are probably the most expensive also.

Also, although I used a custom built tube-frame, it would pretty much have been the same install if I used a stock chassis.

Complete build-up and info:

Great idea - anyone know how to create the "sticky" at the top?

actually im working on that as we speak,i built the box with k&n air filter now im glassing in the underneath side of hood and making a seal, seal to the air filter so i draw only cold air from the cowl induction again.Ill post some pics when im done, trying to get it done for friday night cruise.

Can't wait to see the pics. I would love to be able to come up with a set-up like the '61-'62 (?) on the cover of last month's Corvette Fever. Looked like he did some custom fiberglass work on the hood so that the lines matched up with inlet from a new Z06 that he glassed in the nose. Understated and beautiful. Unfortunately, the lines of the stock cowl induction hood don't lend themselves to something like that on a C3 - unless you switched to an '80s hood maybe???

Add me to the building, although I'm not sure I'll EVER be finished. The LS swap was the easy part....

SuprJames added to the list. Do you have offset TA's on that? Wheel spacers? Looks great....gp
