That's how I do mine. I buy a Moroso Blue Max universal set, and have a set of MDS pliers to crimp the ends. works good. Summit sells various pliers for this.

I got a set of MSD 8.5mm cables from a local shop, it came with a cut guide/crimp tool that you squeeze in a vice, I used a C Clamp, worked like a Nut

"me too". The MSD tool makes a really nice crimp that isn't going to pull off.

Who's got a good link to the best place to get that tool? I make my own wires but use a NAPA tool to crimp. It's okay but if there is a better tool I"m game.

Search Summit for "pro-crimp"

If you have a set, what dies do you use for the HEI style terminals. I have the tool for other types of wire, I just need to buy the correct dies for spark plug wire.

I have those vice blocks from MSD too. They work, but I usually use a regular pliers, it's easier.

Default Dies? We don't need no stinking dies.

Well if u what good generic plug wire for cheap our supporting vendor Jeg's has them in red as a universal cut to finish set. And my new Jeg's wires are working great on my Z28 and look hot too. But if u need blue then a non-supporting vendor (Sum--t) has another good universal set for cheap also.

Now the crimping tool is also the correct stripper and both vendors including NAPA sell's them for <$20 (i recall). The trick is to practice enough. Just look at the old wires when u take them off and see how the wire core is just laid back under the crimped brass terminal. Most decent NAPA stores will have extra brass terminals for sale to practice with. This ain't rocket science guys and really kind'a fun/self satisfaction that u can make plug wires any size u what.
BTW 8mm wires are good enough for any street application <600hp but get real silicon insulated and wire wound core.: :

Hope this helped,
cardo0

As long as were on this topic I bought the larger post '74 OEM rubber grommets for my '70 stock wire looms. The post '74 grommets will alllow me to use much thicker wires (8.5mm) with factory routing and looms.

How about Jegs part number for the MSD 8.5 custom fit wires? I couldnt find it amongst their 8.2 Bizillion MSD wire sets listed
