Head work, more aggressive cam, different pistons to bump compression, and NOS.

I have the same engine, don't expect 330hp, that is a crate motor rating, the numbers come off an engine dyno, there is no accessories (water pump, alternator, power steering, a/c) or exhaust (run open headers) when they get those numbers, I was just on a chassis dyno (I have the same intake manifold, throttle body injection, stock 2'' ramhorn exhaust manifold, no head work or porting, 3'' 2-1-2 exhaust, and a manual 4 speed) and the best pull I got was 245hp : 330ft/lbs at the wheels.

I am in the same boat as you, I want to get a little more out of this puppy, thinking a cam swap is in my near future...

This is the reason I am just going to rebuild the stock motor. Ya bought that motor and now you are starting to have to replace things. Next it will be the heads ant then the dist. I think I will just buy all that stuff first and go with what got me to the dance.

I have the GM Performance 350 HO 330hp intsalled in one of my cars...not a Vette, but a 1970 Avanti. I had Edelbrock fuel injection intstalled, and along with a 700R4 and an aluminum driveshaft, the car runs outstanding. It spins the tires in three of the four gears and idles down the highway...less then 2500 rpm's at 80 mph.

Are there things you can do to improve the performance...sure. In my case, it's more than I needed in crate form.

If you want more performance, think about buying a stroker crate engine and sell the 330hp you have. It might prove more cost effective than tearing apart a new 350 HO you've already paid for and building it to higher specs.

I read an article about upgrades to the 350/330 HO to get 400 HP, but I don't remember where it was. Search the C3 forums. I think I got the link from here somewhere.

Also, Gilbert Chevrolet sells a modified 350 HO they call the 350 HO Super Deluxe. You can read all the specs at their web site:

The better buy is the L31 Replacement Long Block in 4 bolt main
config... the 350HO and the 350 Circle Track crate motor, both GMPP
pieces are based on the L31/350 Vortec.... they are Vortec 350's
all with the same heads.. you'll save about a grand getting the L31/4bolt
Long Block vs the 350HO..... drop the Circle Track 350 cam in the L31 long block and rip'em up..

here's the 4bolt version of the L31..which came in 1ton trucks.... 2bolts
were in the 1/2tons

http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...D&ProdID=43221

the 350 Circle Track Cam:
#24502476: Gross Lift (.435" I / .460" E) Duration @ .050 (212 I / 222 E) 112 lobe Centerline

L31 Long Block.. $2200.... 350H0 $3100... look for the real differences

You can pull 440hp out of the L31 with head prep and cam...

http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...ock/index.html

all depends on what you want to do.... Vortecs flow enough air
to make well over 400hp... Double Humps and L98/ZZ4's won't unless
heavily massaged...
