No it's not the L-79 cam. Your cam would be considered a 280 cam.

Thanks, It feels good above 2500 rpm's. The Q-jet is not adjusted too good.We did have to drill 1/8" holes in butterflys to get it to idle. Thinking of carb change though. Any suggestions? Stock exhaust except for duals,no cat. I live in Hockley,TX. (outside of Houston) never see anyone mention changes and inspection with these 77's.Am I going to have problems without smog pump, cat at inspection time?I would like to keep close to stock, maybe L-82 (2.02) heads for more breathing, and still look stock.Any suggestions?

Clevite Interchange reads TRW TP168 = Clevite 229-1993

Clevite published specs for 229-1993:
Part Number 229-1993
Perf. SP (super performer)
Code Type H (hydraulic)
Intake Cam Lift .320
Exhaust Cam Lift .320
Gross Intake Valve Lift .480
Gross Exhaust Valve Lift .480
SAE Overlap 72°
SAE Intake Duration 288°
SAE Exhaust Duration 288°

.050″ Intake Dur 232°
.050″ Exhaust Dur 232°

Valve Timing @ .050"
IO 10°BTC
IC 42°ABC
EO 46°BBC
EC 6°ATC

ICL 106°
ECL 110°
LSA 108°

BTW ... Sealed Power/SpeedPro CS186R appears as interchange for both TRW TP168 & Clevite 229-1993

-edit- Just my .02 ... that's too much cam for STREET L48 / low compression.

Your cam specs. agree w/ TRW chart.
As for carb, which intake do you have?

You may only need to pass a visual. For many years if they don't hear an exhaust leak, they don't look under it.
They only seem to notice obvious things like if no belt to air pump fail, no belt, no air pump fail. No air pump pulley, no air pump, etc. pass.

You can get antique plates & no more inspections.
