New SportComp Monster tach installed! What ya think??
The purists probably want care for this but my car is so far from ever being OEM I decided to go this route for mounting a good tach. I was going to swap the old speedo and tach but that would still put the tach in a position that was hard for me to see. I am 6'5" and the angle that I have to look at the guages in the dash just is not clear. I think this came out pretty good and keeps with my HotRod theme. What'ya think?

well, since you asked....
I don't have anything positive to say....
But to each his own, and if you like it that's all that counts.

Ok, ok I know it looks a little big in the pictures but I zoomed in and that makes it look a lot bigger than what it actually is. The second picture is closer to the actual size of the tach. The pictures still don't do it justice and make it look funny I will admit but actualy sitting in the car it looks pretty cool....... Yeah yeah you will have to take my word for it......

if you happen to read above, he said he is 6'5" and his line of sight to the factory gauge location is not very visable from his perspective. that would be why!

Honestly it really doesn't. I made sure to check my placement before actually mounting. The point where I mounted it was already covered somewhat by the L-88 hood. I tell ya the pictures really make it look bigger than it actually is.
Oh well I like it.

premium deduct for daytime running lights, premium add on for obstructed view. It looks OK, for a drag car.
I like your center gauges too. With your line of site in mind....you might consider a really custom center console with tach at top, gauges next, then radio. With a sheet of 060 or 080 6061 and a few days labor....hummmm.
I use a mini tach with shift light (1.5 diameter tube) mounted to column. The shift light was the sole reason to add it, for the times I forget I have the trans in second and get on it. This being said, do you really need the tach, or just a shift light?? I think some may have the ability to have a second remote shift light....so you could put the tack in the dash, and mount a small light maybe to the rearview or something like that more in your line of sight.
The itimidation factor could be bolstered by the addition of those neat blue LED nitrous purge nozzles!!!

That's how I had one mounted in my old '68 Camaro. I liked it...
In my Vette....I've still got the factory tach in it. It works great under normal conditions but I've found it lags a *Little* during hard acceleration. Like on a chassis dyno run I found that 6800 on the tach was actually about 7600!! Thought it was taking a while to get to 6800!!
I've added a shift light that I can unplug and remove when I don't want it. Sibce I like revving things...I set it at 6800 rpm so I would know when I passed that point..then depending on how it *felt* I would shift. It became known as my *shift suggestion light*!!
Then I re-geared the trans this last year...and the new combo has it spinning pretty high. I finally just unplugged the light..it was annoying me because it never turned off! I guess I could have just set it higher..but I've found I still pretty much drive by my *butt-o-meter* anyway!
Anyway, it looks cool..adds to the hardcore look! Now get some bigger tires under that thing and fill those big fenderwells up and lets go racing!!

I have found the same thing as Jim. My stock tach lags some 4-500 rpm behind my Stewart Warner shift light with digital tach that I have mounted on my column. Always wondered why I bumped the rev limiter set at 6500 at 6000 on my stock tach.

It's not my style. But to each his own.
If viewing the tach was a problem for me, I'd set up a shift light non-distructively mounted below the windshield header instead of adding a redundant gage that was attached through a factory trip piece.
