Default Fan clutch question

I have a little play in my fan clutch, it moves forward and backwards on the shaft. The car (68 327SB) runs at a low temp, but 2 diff. people have stated that I need to change it before it goes through my radiator.
Any suggestions...can this be fixed rather than replaced? I did a search, but only saw overheating and adjustment issues.

Replace it. An OEM replacement will cost in the neighborhood of a hundred bucks, an aftermarket fan clutch will cost a lot less. it's only a few easy to get to bolts to replace it. A whole lot easier and cheaper than ending up having to replace a radiator too. Unless you are looking for an excuse to get a nice new aluminum radiator that is!

I was wantin to keep the original on it. I have heard that replacemnts can run hotter. Although I don't know if it matters that much for a small block?

Any replacement is cheaper than a new hood or radiator as they will chuck that fan

You could save your origional as I think (not sure) they can be rebuilt.

You will change your mind about keeping it when you throw your belts....
