Q-jet installation question...
I'm getting ready to install the Q-jet on an original aluminum intake for a 427/390 and the manifold has 2 allen screw plugs under the front of the carb flange. Should I remove these plugs and use 2 gaskets and the metal plate to mount the carb or leave the plugs in and use 1 carb flange gasket? I think the original engine had the metal divider plate under the carb but I'm not sure.

Melting Slicks
Leave the plugs in place,..they'll block exhaust heat from reaching the carb. The thought behind the design was too speed engine warming,..but it causes more problems than solves,..such as percolating fuel in the float bowl, warped throttle plate, etc.
And as we all know, a cooler intake and carb is mobetta for performance.
Good luck!
