Default Banging noise from drivetrain

I have a 75 just had the transmission rebult with a shift kit put in (400 turbo) when I put in reverse I hear a banging noise when I put in drive noise is still there but not as loud. When under way car drives fine no noise or vibrate. But I did notice when I put in gear the car squats & raises more with new trans.p.s. rear end is topped off with new fluid & 1/2 shafts fill tight. Thanks scott

Check the bushing on the front of the differential. If it is cracked/worn, it will cause the banging.

Did you put additive in the rear end (if it's a posi) when you changed the fluid?

The banging at low idle could be the improvement to the TH400. I rebuilt my 400 and set it up to the street/strip mods. The added pressures cause a bang noise when I let the car slowly drive and shift in idle, like in a parking lot. Normal driving and it's fine. This may be your noise? Posi hammering will usually show up starting up from a corner, when the clutches won't slip enough and hammer. I can fix that too but you have to pull the posi case.
