Gen 6 BBC 1 piece seal oil pan Recomendation
Looking for part #s and or recomendations for an oil pan to fit the C2/C3 chassis.. The pan is for a Gen 6 BBC one piece seal. GM or aftermarket is cool. I do not want the pan to be much if any lower than stock.
Any input on this subject will be more than appreciated.

Why the popcorn, is this a sore or redundant question? I see there has been many post's to this subject as found in a search.
My question asks specifically about the gen 6. The post's I see say 502 that can be 5 or 6. The Gen 5 I owned had a Mark 4 pan and timing cover configuration. That’s all I have ever seen in a mark 5. Although both engines retain the same seal radius you can drill the extra holes in the front of the block to use the mark 4 and 5 cover and oil pan. I would prefer to not do this, that’s why I ask.

The popcorn is just because he doesn't know the answer but is interested as well. This is a good tech question since I was thinking about a Gen VI BBC swap as well.

I am using Moroso #20411 which is a 6 quart plus filter kickout pan on my 69 with a GenV 502. It fits both GenV and VI. My GenV also has the one piece rear seal. Bellhousing (Lakewood) is actually lower than the pan. Works with power steering as well. I think it works for a 4.25 inch stroke or less. I originally had the GM 4 quart on mine but I wanted the additional oil capacity. The Moroso also works with Hooker sidemounts. Hope this helps.

I have an GMPP 454HO engine to be installed in a 1969 vert.
I bought the GM pan, its only 4 quarts capacity.
With the Moroso pan, did you have to change the pick up, and or oil pump?
What generation is this block, IV or V ?

Hi Bill so you are saying your pan fits both the gen 5 and gen 6 motor?
I wonder how many gen 5's were the same and when they changed. I guarantee I owned a gen 5 502 crate that had the mark 4 timing cover/oil pan.
I talked to a guy at Steffs Oil Pans and he claimes the same with gen 5 that they have a mark 4 "style" cover/pan. Weird.......
Flywheel is different from the Mark 4, Just bought a new GM unit. It only has holes for the 11 inch clutch so here goes another 300 for a new Centerforce. My 10.4 Centerforce was 2 months old.

Just measured a stock C2 BBC mark 4 pan. it's 7.750 from the pan rail down/depth. The pans starts to drop to the large sump area at approx 14 inches from the front edge of the pan.

Heres the deal. Gen 5 uses a 10 bolt front cover. looks like Mark4 but the oil pan does NOT bolt at the ends to the cover. Gen 6 uses 6 bolts, the cover is thinner- Oil pan does NOT bolt to the front cover.
Conclusion oil pans are the same, front covers are different. Talked to a guy at Milodon, he runs a gen 5 in a 64 C2. He uses the 6 quart part # 30975 this pan fits just like stock 7.750 depth. Done deal....... Thanks for everyones reply.

Yea, I knew Milodon had one as well. It should work fine. I did use the recommended pickup with mine but I was doing a rebuild on the motor anyway. Interesting on the front cover details as I did not know that, but every oil pan listing I have seen it lists GenV and VI the same.

I was just concerend for my application that I needed to stick with stock depth 7.750. As it is my scattershield hits on speed bumps. Some other pans were 8 inches which may not seem like much. Tho I would rather drain my oil in my shop than a parking lot Again just my deal I am sure there is some room. I also felt this one was a no brainer as I already have lots of other items to deal with. The road race pan I also saw would be sweet, but 8 inches also. Also along with the gen 6 6 bolt cover it uses a different cam nose and upper gear bolt spacing. The deal is a wide bouble roller chain wont fit inside that cover, hence the reason folks drill and tap the block to fit the gen 5 deeper cover. The gen 6 chain is a roller just not double wide. Keep in mind tho you must change cams as far as I know to run the double wide chain. Again due to the stepped cam nose and smaller bolt circle. The cool part about the gen 6 is you can use the cheaper roller lifters from GM or replacement aftermarket stuff for about 175 to 200 for 16. Just thought I would share what I know- and have just found out. I also talked to a company that sells the cam cover conversion, but it was like 500 bucks You can buy a gen 5 cover, drill and tap those holes for a few bucks.
