Rusty block reworkable?
I am considering bidding on this block:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ksid=p3907.m32
As it has the right date code and casting number for my car. What are the opinions on if it would be useable with proper machining work? The rust worries me. I am not actually going to use it, just assemble it with correct parts / paint it up, and use it as a garage decoration, but I hate to pay money for total junk.
Thanks

$1000 for a rusty block that MAY be salvagable? I don't think so..... Now, if it was fully machined and had the forged crank (with no cracks) included....

Yea, that's got to be a mis-print. $1000 for that block? Maybe $100.
Those old SBC blocks are a dime a dozen in Craigs list and other places.
