Adjusting electric choke on a 1980
Rebuilt the stock carburetor on my 1980 L82. Instructions
in the Haynes manual say to turn the choke cover until the
choke closes completely and then back off until it opens
very slightly.
On the choke cover there is an indentation for one of the
special washers that hold the cover on. One of the
washers has a tab that fits in the indentation. Which means
there is no adjustment if the washer tab is placed in
the indentation. If it is not then this washer will not lay flat
against the choke cover.
Does this mean that the covers of electric chokes are not
adjustable?
On hot air type chokes there is no indentation on
the cover nor a tab on one of the washers so the choke can
be adjusted as per the manual.

The Haynes manual is not the best source for this info.
The choke adjustment is initialy sealed from the factory. Not adjustable without tearing it apart and modifying the cover attachment method. If you realy need to change the choke setting, you have to modify the choke cover (maybe try adding some screws?). Not too bad of a job if you must do it.
The mixture screws are sealed up as well on that carb. You have to break open the aluminum throttle body casting in order to get to them if you ever want to change the mixture setting.

Will post a picture of the cover and the washer tonight.
I drilled out the rivets and removed the choke cover and
casing so I could immerse the carb body in carb cleaner.
Now just need to adjust it when putting it back together.

On the electric choke, there is no adjustment of the cover. Align the indent on the cover with the holdown clip tab and you are done. No further adjustment needed.
