Default Autometer or other custom speedo and tach - 1968-1977

I have a question for all you autometer or custom gauge peoples. I just installed a classic instruments speedo and tach in my 1970 and cannot decide if I should put the stock plexiglass gauge lenses back in. I am worried about having to look through two layers of glass to see the gauge face and weird reflections.

What have you done?

Thats what I was thinking. Can you notice the gap where the lens would have been?

This thread needs pictures. I especially want to see your Classic Instruments install.

I'll get some pictures up later today.

I have to use a dakota digital signal converter to get the PCM output to work with the speedo.
