Default What dual plane aluminum intake will fit under stock hood on 74 LS4

Please help,I do not want to put a single plane intake on my otherwise stock LS4 in my 74.I have heard that there is a dual plane intake aluminum intake that will work under a stock hood with a AFB and a drop base air cleaner.Does anyone know which intake will work?

The '68 and '69 L36 427's had an aluminum dual plane manifold but they were for spread bore carburetors. Sounds like a good opportunity to get the proper carburetor on the engine. You can find them on eBay.

Thanks for the info,But would really like to keep AFB.Have had really good service from them compared to a Quadrabog or leaky Holleybog.Would like to use aftermarket intake due to availability and expense compared to OEM megabuck HiPo intake.

I'm told the Torquer II fits though I've not seen it done.

I saw a Holley street dominator aluminum intake under a stock BB hood and a '72, with a 2" height filter.

Default keep what you have

However if you want more power but want to keep the low hood height, a good compromise is get a long discontinued small runner single plane Holley Street Dominator and weld in runner extensions. it will give a decent bottom end and boost top end. It worked a treat on my 1970 and all under the hood.

this is the only aftermarket that is readily available and bolts right on.

the tech at summit said that the performer would work with an edelbrock and drop base but no one has ever confirmed it.

One of the cool things about the 73, is the cowl induction set up. It'd be nice if you could maintain the stock air cleaner, etc. But I don't think the stock AC will clear the float bowls on a Holley.

FWIW

"Lacks" meaning 1.5" of clearance? Or "lacks" meaning 1.5" from clearing?

1 inch would clear,.5 inches for torque clearance... Do you know how much shorter the performer is than the performer RPM?
