Default Cast Iron RHS or Aluminum Edelbrock for my 350

I am trying to decide between RHS and Edelbrock heads for my 1980 Manual 350ci L48.

The RHS are heavy 50lb/head cast iron with 180cc intake and approximately £250 cheaper against Edelbrock 170cc intake aluminium 25lb/head

I understand that choice of head must go hand in hand with cam choice and intended RPM range. I would go with hydraulic flat tappet cam with RPM range of up to +/-5500 RPM?

Here are the specs for the heads:

RHS Pro Action Cast Iron Heads
Com. chamber vol In. runner vol Ex. runner vol In. valve Ex. valve
64cc 180cc ?cc 2.02" 1.60"

And

Edelbrock Performer RPM Aluminium Heads
Com. chamber vol In. runner vol Ex. runner vol In. valve Ex. valve
64cc 170cc 60cc 2.02" 1.60"

What do you think?

for additional info on the edelbrock heads. My performer rpm heads measured 185cc intake port volume, not the advertised 170cc. might help for a more apples to apples...

How much compression are we talking about & what quality of petrol do you get? Aluminum should handle both better. For that money ($375) difference I'd go with the Edelbrock alum heads.

I would not buy something that is only marginally higher flowing than a well prepped stock head.

I would price out Dart 200cc iron or aluminum or Brodix new jesse James 200 cc

4 speed is much more forgiving when it comes to intake systems.

I will be buying parts from the United Kingdom so choice is limited to RHS or Edelbrock.

I will be buying this short block from UK http://store.summitracing.com/partde...1&autoview=sku
and want to pick the right head for THIS short block.

What will the CR be, for this block with this choice of heads?

Summitracing sells more than what is listed in the catalog. They can't print something 4 feet thick

Your short block says dished pistons. Well I would go with 64 -66 cc heads. I use aluminum because of repairability. Cast iron can crack if you ever over heat the motor or have a valve failure

This makes sense.

Let me speak to the parts supplier to find out exact specification of the short block and I will be back.

I can not find much information about this RHS heads. Are they not very good?
