Stock C-3 Oil Pan
I'm assumming the stock C3 Oil Pan is a designed a little different than those aftermarket chrome "SBC" oil pans you find on ebay?
The reason why I ask is I have one of those on my 82, and was wondering if the stock 68-82 Corvette oil pan sit's a little higher in the front where the suspension parts come across.
Thanks

I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD BE THE SAME just cheaper metal used. majority of the times those chrome pans, valve covers and such are made out of a cheap "tin" like metal that distorts and leaks. believe me once you change the pan you neve rwant to do it again (without a lift)

stock C3 oil pan
I was unable to find a stock-fitting, replacement oil pan for my '81. I bought and returned three oil pans from different vendors. All three were too deep at the front and would have rubbed the steering control arm when the steering wheel was turned to the max, left or right. I then called six more vendors asking for dimensions of their supposed stock replacements. All six pans were similarly too deep at the front of the pan. Good luck with your search, though.

There must be some difference. When you try to purchase a one piece oil pan gasket for the 350 there are two offerings, Thin (68 -74) and Thick (75 and up). Not sure about pan depth, etc., but the sealing plane is different.

I don't know about chrome oil pans, but 80-82 Corvettes used a different oil pan than 79 and earlier ones. The 80-82 (actually this pan was used until 86 or 88) pan was set up for the right hand (passenger side) dipstick, 79 and earlier use a left hand dipstick. I think the aftermarket chrome pans are designed for use on pre 79 Corvettes, which may be part of the problem. Of course, aftermarket parts being just that, aftermarket parts, may be the problem.

i used grd 8 bolts and 3/8 spacers so good and strong, gave me about an 1/2 of space under the pan. the cylinder is static for up and down movement so no worries there.
This last picture the ram has Not been lowered .

but.....after a long look around same thing all the oil pans that i found 1 1/2 '' to tall that made the power steering cylinder rub on the pan so i lowered the end of the of the cylinder that attaches to the frame with no change in steering.

But you can get one like this from Speedway, dipstick on either side, for less than 100 bucks and it clears steering no sweat.
