Hi All

What are the 383 stroker people using for oil pans? Dipstick on driver side.

Thanks in advance

Happy New Year

I used the milodon 30908 pan and had airation problems. They used to say it help 7 quarts plus the filter but now I see they corrected it and now they say only 6 plus the filter. I only run 4.5 in it. 5 or more and it airates and looses oil pressure. Cost me a motor and pan in the first motor. Rebuilt motor with another 908 pan and problem was there again. Started to take oil out until problem was gone. I have eagle steal H beam rods.

I am using a Midwest Motor sports pan. Pan holds 5 qts. so total oil change is 6 qts. including the filter.

I had a clearance problem with the crank scraper, required modification because of the stroker crank, otherwise, works fine.

This is an offshore manufactured piece, but no leakage when using a Fel-Pro 1 piece gasket.

www.midwestmotorsportsinc.com Part Number: MWM-1050.

I went Hamburger 7 Qt pan. Beat the heck out of the stock one and you will need the extra clearance for the 400 crank and a little more oil will help the 383.

Most 383 rods clear & run OK with OE 350 pan.
IMHO, no real need for $pan$ unless racing. Also, many street/drag pans hang down lower than OE vette pan ... don't need that issue. You can get asian left turn only pans for under $100 on fleabay etc ... but you need to add a gate to driver side pan sump to convert to L&R turn road race pan.

That was my choice too.Spend the extra $12 for the hamburger spreader bars too. Pan part #1088, Spreader bars part #1188

I use a new stock pan because of clearance with the 8qt that came with my new 383.
I might go up 1 qt later, but for now it works fine.
I took this picture after test fitting with the 8qt pan, sorry I do not have one showing how it was not going to work.

I just love this picture (note 4 bolt 010 block) Yeah!
