K&N Air Filters

K&N Air Filters
I'm wondering if K&N air filters really make a difference. Currently I’m using a stock chrome air cleaner cover 14' with a fram filter. I have a 1969 427 390hp 4 speed. They say it adds HP & 500 cfm extra airflow. Is this so? Any opinions? Any body noticed such an upgrade?
Thanks

It will make no difference. Every car mag there is has done the tests and while the K&N will flow more than most stock replacement filters it simply isn't needed. The Fram element you have can supply more than enough air for your engine. Just do a Google search for "K&N filter test" or similar wording and you will see. Spend your money on something more fun.

500cfm? Even 50cfm sounds a little high. I enjoy my K&N simply because of the cleaning/recharge kit. Pretty simple and easy and its a nice filter it holds up well.

K&N filters do not filter enough for me. An original AC filter that impressed me with filtering was the one that came in my 85 Corvette. I am not interested in better air flow at high RPM's.
