62-64 327 Block ID and Heads, please help!
I'm trying to find out where this engine came from that has come into
my possesion, from what i can find on mortech the heads are:
3795896....62-64...327......60cc chamber
and the block is:
3782870....327...62-67...2
I was informed that it was from an early corvette, could this
be correct? or does anyone know where this engine may
have come from? any specs ect? Or do i just have a "truck" engine?

Re: 62-64 327 Block ID and Heads, please help! (VETDRMS)
The "870" block is a 327 block used in 62-65 Corvettes. It was also used in passenger cars, etc. What is the "stamping" on the pad? That will tell you the assembly date, the VIN derivitive, and the "usage suffix". The suffix is one or two letters "AA", "BB", etc. That suffix tells you it's original use. Also, on the bellhousing flange..passengers side top, you'll find a date cast into the block.... A43 = Jan 4, 1963, etc. for Flint blocks, A463 (2 digit date) for Tonawanda blocks. If you have a Tonawanda block, those were never used in Corvettes. Hope this helps. Chuck
