I am looking for HP and Torque #'s on a motor with NO mods. Just the way it comes from the dealer. Again, for the ZZ502/502 deluxe engine.

I am thinking the figures by GM are over inflated.

Well....maybe not.....take a look at this http://www.sporttruck.com/techarticl...dup/index.html .....again I'm sure advertizing dollars are important to all these magazines but these motors all seem to do a little better than advertized. Google "502 502 dyno test" there is lots of reading. I think it is safe to say they are at least as powerfull as advertized and maybe just slightly better if you have a dyno handy and can dail it in.

That article sounds about right. I read another article awhile back that said one ZZ502 produced 523HP. Rest assured that all GM crate engines are underated. From my observance, all GM's BB crate engines have been underated by atleast 20-30 HP. One article I saw a while back, had the ZZ572/720R on the dyno. The retarded the timing so it could run on pump gas and that engine produced over 750HP.

They'll make as advertised. But what's so great about that? That's 1HP per cube. Just like a 350/350. That's a long way from what a 500" big block with aluminum heads ought to be doing.

They do drive nice with a sweet lope. Power is dropping fast after 5500 rpm. My buddy has one in my old Camaro. Just runs out of steam too early for my tastes.

A cam change wakes them up a good bit.

I recall seeing a 'before-n-after' article a few years ago, where the 290 HP / 350 CID cranked-out 307-312 (?) HP straight outta the box
