White Performance 3hp Mini Starter
Has any one purchased a 3hp mini starter from White Performance out of Kingsport, TN? They are currently selling these units for $77.50 ($13.50 shipping) on E-bay. The starter is powder coated red. If so, how is it performing? They did a good job of marketing. I bit and purchased one. My vehicle would crank very slowly and would not start. I intend to switch my battery cables to a heavier gauge and get a heavy duty battery. I definitely believe my vehicle is slow to crank because of the engine heat and I'm sick of waiting 15+ minutes before I can start my vehicle to go elsewhere.

I bought one. It came with a three year warranty and lasted one. They were very good people to deal with and sent me another... which lasted a year. Then I went and bought a stock GM mini starter for a late model truck from AutoZone. That was three years ago, no problems, lifetime warranty, right down the street. That's the way to go if you ask me.

I bought one of those high torque mini starters (maybe $100?) from Summit almost 10 years ago. Installing it instead of the 20 pound original was delightful. No problems...

I bought a mini-starter from them on Ebay a couple of years ago... had some issues with the fit, eventually talked to the owner. He was very nice, and recommended a different starter they had, took care of everything for me. Been on there ever since, no problems!

I'm using a Delco mini-starter from a late model truck. They're great, weigh under 10 lbs and crank my 10:1 454 like nothing. Been on there for years with no problems.
Only thing to keep in mind with the GM starters is they are designed for 10mm bolts, where our cars use 3/8" (~9.5mm). I used thin-wall brass tubes from the local hardware store to create a perfect fit.

Quality on mini-starters varies greatly if you are running a 153 tooth flywheel the 88-89 Vette Nippon Denso GM starter is a very good piece. I bought a used DEI NASCAR starter off Ebay for $125 a few years back and it too has worked very well. CVR/Denso/Hitatchi are some other quality brands, buyer BEWARE on any non-labeled brands, if you do it, I hope your car is a manual trans so it can be push started

I bought one for my 454 and it was the best starter I ever bought,
can't beat it at any price, good people to do business with too.

that was a bout 2 years ago, however it was not painted red, it was black.
