Burnout in an automatic?
This may be a very stupid question, but what do you guys with automatics do to warm up the tires for a 1/4 run? I mean I know you can rev up the engine and put it into drive, but I'd like to not ruin my transmission.
Thanks

Just put your foot lightly on the brake, enough for it not to roll and give it the gas. The front brake hooks first so you can get the rears turning without moving forward. You will have to give it more gas and brake at the same time. It's not good for the rear breaks but it's the same with a stick, you wear down the rear brakes faster.

If you're going to do very many burnouts, definitely get the line lock as Tank suggests to save unnecessary wear and tear on your rear brakes. FWIW, normal street tires don't always get stickier with a long burnouts, so if that's what you've got be sure and try different thiings, including driving around the bleach box altogether, to find what works best, as many only need to be clean and dry.

High Gear in the Box
Move into the bleach or water box, put it in 'high' gear and press on the gas. After a few you will get the general idea, and they dont have to be 7K rpm blasts. Your warming the tires and cleaning them too...And then a couple of low gear chirps to the line.....
