650 Holley Double Pumper Idle
When I bought the car it ran pretty bad, especialy for a new crate 330/350. I looked at the carb and the air/fuel idle screws were at full lean to the point where i could pull the screws out. It is a 2 corner idle adjustment and electric choke. I took the screws and screwed them in all the way then out 1.5 turns (as holley reccomends). Now the engine won't start, so I upped the idle speed, maxed it out and still won't start.
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Michal

Something is a little backwards here. Unless you have a carb where the screws work in reverse of what is normal, as you turn the screw clockwise you are leaning out the mixture, all the way out like you descibe is full rich not counting the vacuum leak you would get with the screws falling out as you described. Try turning the screws a little further out than 1.5 try 2.5 and see if it starts but that doesnt sound like something that would prevent the car from starting. It would effect the idle once it started.

You're correct, sorry I wasn't paying attention:o.
I tried 3 turns and the engine turns over starts kinda and stalls out. It will only start at close to full rich.

I can't check most of those without starting.... vacuum seems fine lights went up and down in 1 seccond before i played with idle mixture and after playing with idle mixture she won't start. Anyone wanna trade?

If the engine won't start at all, even after you pump a bunch of gas into it, I don't think your problem is the idle screws. Something else probably got messed up.

Did you check the float levels you could be drowning the engine if they are way too high or the needle is stuck in open position.

Wow... Checked the number and it turns out its a 670cfm Street Avenger. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-0-80670/
Previous owner didn't know much about his carb....
I'll try adjusting the float level next.

there is a huge difference between a street avenger and a double pumper.
sounds like it is time for a rebuild.
holley kits are cheap and it only takes maybe an hour to take it off, strip and clean, reassembly, and reinstall. reset everything back to factory spec and start over.
there may be so much gunk in the passages that it needs to be fully open just to let enough fuel go through.
definitely something is up with the idle circuit.
